Killin Hotel

We booked last minute and had an amazing experience! Dinner was superb, especially the beef main course that melted in my mouth. The delicious shortbread in our room was a lovely touch!

A magical stay where we were serenaded by a community choir after our engagement. Fantastic dog-friendly features

Well-organised place for a visit to Killin with amazing location next to the river and great services. What a really friendly and efficient staff. Fantastic bar area. A lovely way to end my trip.

Very unhelpful staff!

Came here for new year, had quiet 1 day overall. I booked immaculate king room here with 2 single beds as well as walk in shower. The location was incredible, around 10-15 minutes walk from Inchbuie Island.

It was in a fab location near Parish Church.

Clean place, staff was accommodating and polite.

The hotel has traditional scottish character, wonderful views and warm open fires, essential even in May! The food was very good, though the helpings/portion control is quite out of hand - give less and we (and all the other guests we spoke to) would have had more courses.

In room 36 - dirty loo brush, taps won`t turn on and off unless a very strong hand is used, mattress not very comfortable - all not bad enough to comment on at the time

My Double Room Ensuite was pretty neat and cozy. The bed was comfy but had a squeaky noise that was a bit annoying. I liked the modern en-suite. The shower was nice, but the water pressure dropped a bit on the second night. The decor felt fresh and gave off a homely vibe, which I appreciated. A decent space to chill after a day of exploring the hills.

We have often walked from Lochearnhead to Killin but never had time to stay. This time we did after a very wet day and looked forward to the 4 poster room river view. The room itself was fine, but some of the view is fast disappearing as a large conservatory is built. As you'd expect in an old building the floors are very creaky and if there is anything on in the bar or function area underneath, the rooms will be very noisy. As we were the last folk to leave the bar, this didn't bother us. The one real ale was welcomed after a day in the hills as was the kettle etc in the room. The nice bistro room will also lose much of its attraction once the conservatory is added right outside the window, thereby killing the view.

Per my comments about the rooms above, I would ask if the room you book is a) right above the function areas, b) still has a river view (assuming this is the sort of room you book). We have had dinner here on a number of occasions and the quality had seriously reduced this time, with a more conservative menu. My lamb steak was fine inside, but the seared outside was very tough. I hate to say this, but, having stayed in 100s of hotels all over the world, this had probably the worst breakfast we’ve ever been presented with. The watery coffee sat in a large tea urn, the black pudding was inedible and the bacon had a white scum over it. Couldn't actually eat or drink it. You have to make your own toast, fine if the toasters actually worked – only 1 out of 2 did.

Excellent price at 49 pounds, even full price would have been acceptable. The location is beautiful, Killin is a very picturesque town and easy to get to. The food and drink both very good (some of the portion sizes are massive) and breakfast well presented. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly.

great location but small room

The location is fantastic, with access to beautiful views and local attractions. I particularly liked the value for money .

The room felt smaller than expected.

We couldn't have chosen a better Hotel or location, arriving tired we were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our room which was just perfect, comfy bed, great shower, excellent tea/coffee facilities. Bit noise from the works going on but we didn't mind too much as obviously this will create even better appeal when it's all finished.

The hotels very grand and traditional. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. We stayed on the top floor and the room was tiny but there was a beautiful view out of the window of the river and surrounding mountains. The bar is suprisingly cheap and all the food portions are absolutley massive. There's lots of walks nearby, especially a lovely one to Loch Tay which is only about 1 mile. Me and the hubby would definately stay in the Killin Hotel again.
